Subject: Travel expenses before property ready for occupancy

Hello

I purchased a property in QLD off the plan back in Nov-2003 but settlement was not until Aug-2004. In Jun-2004, I went to the property to inspect and discuss with the onsite manager with regard to managing my property. The manager advised that they had already started a marketing campaign to attract tenants for the complex. As the property was not settled until August, can I claim the expenses incurred in June?

Your advice would be much appreciated.
