Subject: Acts ending on a certain page:

First of all, forget the 3 act "rule." Sounds radical doesn't it? Great movies have been made with 2 acts, 5 acts, 6 acts, etc.

Forget about acts ending on a certain page. It won't work
in practice. This is taught by people who have never sold let alone written a screenplay(s).

After you write several scripts you'll see what I mean. Just
keep the story moving, interesting, never dull, never predictable and your "acts" will fall in their right place
in the story. Make sure you have a smash first 10 pages, get into the main story line quickly and introduce your main characters quickly. Don't ramble - tell your story.

Focus on one (or more) main character(s) and keep the focus
on them. Get your protagonist up a tree and throw rocks at
him (or her). If the rocks hit them and hurt or kill them you have a drama. If the rocks miss, it's a comedy.

The Guru

EVERY story and screenplay dictates it's OWN structure, it's own pacing. One size fits all is the way screenwriting is taught but it isn't so.
