Subject: A "Grand" summer

Sorry we missed Ed and Maxine when they were in Tupelo recently but I did get up early enough to watch them on
"The Mornin' Show"-just as smooth as ever!
Judy and I have recently completed a round or two with
grand kids- had as many as six at one time. They are all delightful but it was a relief when the last one was sent home! Coming from Houston and New Orleans, we would meet
the parents somewhere in between. Once in Vicksburg and
twice at mile markers along the highway. Though I'm not
much on cell phones, they sure came in handy making the
"hostage" exchanges. Although it took a few days, our life
is pretty much back to normal- just the two of us and
the two big black dogs. A real treat was the visit by
Kat and her three daughters, Liz, Claire, and LuLu, and
their new puppy,Fuskie, named for the island on which they
vacation. Kat drove from Bend, Or. to Lexington, to Hilton
Head to Amory to Austin to Santa Fe and back to Bend. I think she was mighty brave to undertake such a trip.

Hope the silence on the board is not an indication of heat
problems among the faithful '54ers. Let us hear from some
of you!
