Subject: Miss Smith

That's a great picture of Miss Smith. I never had her for a class and wish now that I had. I saw her and Miss Davis around town often and altho Miss Davis had gotten a little older, Miss Davis remained much the same. How old did we think they were when we were 17? Maybe 50? At least as old as our parents. You do the math. Miss Smith died at 90 and we are 71 or 72. So she must have been only 36 or 37 whwn she was at CCHS. I often saw her in the grocery store, brown as a berry, in short shorts and a t-shirt, always remembering my name and saying she had been doing her walk that morning. They always came to the reunions and loved seeing everyone. She is another teacher who had a great impact on many students' lives. Thanks for sharing that picture.

Another note: How about that beautiful script on the blackboard behind her! Every word visible can be easily read. I think computers have taken that away from most of us. We just scribble, e-mail and text. Her writing was legible and beautiful.
