Umm, the fan club isn't actually a business, is it? The newsletter is free, you don't have to send any money to it. The official name for spam is UCE, which stands for Unsolicited Commercial Email.

The email wasn't of a commercial nature (I'm guessing, anyway), and far I know it only gets sent to people who are known Rocky fans. Do you know how the site owner got your address? Are you a known fan of Rocky Horror? If so, then it's not 'unsolicited' either.

I'd say don't panic about it. I've only ever received one email from the fan club politely asking me if I'd like to join. And I was never asked again. Since the whole fan club seems to be a non-commercial operation, there'd be no way the site owner would have the resources to send 'spam' out to thousands of people that don't know/care about Rocky. As a fan of Rocky Horror, I didn't think receiving one email asking me if I wanted to join the fan club was spam. It's a legitimate question to ask of someone who is a known fan.

Cheers,
John.
