Subject: Portland NW Pride '99 needs you!

Coordinator Jes Nelson is rounding up volunteers for Portland's (Oregon) Pride NW, which happens June 19-20. There's a party for volunteers and entertainers after the fest, so it's really worth volunteering for a couple of hours, just to attend this great party. Here are

the options:

Security: you wander around the festival and/or the parade and make sure
everyone is behaving themselves. security folks get the infamous "obey me!"
t-shirt, always a big draw!

Stage: Our sound person needs some folks to make the stage run smoothly.

Barricade Monitors: during the parade we need some people to person the
barricades, not the greatest job, however, this comes with a cool T-shirt.
and we really need people for this!

Trash and setup: we need people who are willing to set up the festival
grounds on both saturday and sunday mornings, and also people to help pick
up trash on sunday morning and evening. its pretty low commitment, and you
don't really miss any of the festival or parade because it happens either
before or afterwards.

we also have a need for just general festival volunteers. we need people to
carry buckets around, and get donations, people to act as errand runners and
such to just smooth out the edges and make things run more smoothly. and to
fill in for the folks who inevitably don't show up.

so there it is. if you could email me and let me know what you would be
interested in that would be great!!! i will put people on lists according
to interests, and the committee chair will call you with the details.
please recruit any of your friends who are also interested. remind them
that volunteering is fun, and you meet lots of people.
