I was wondering if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. In sewing the fishline hem on the skirts mine seem to come out with like a ripple effect instead of the nice loopy curls you see. I am using a serger to do this with but they just dont seem to come out like the pics of some I've seen. Any advice?

Bias means at a diagonal. The fabric has more stretch that way. I use 30# line and make sure you have enough fullness. Also, I think a roll hem foot on a regular mechine using a tight ziz zag, make a much prettier curl.

I got one cheap at a thrift store years ago, as I was rusty on my terminology and basics from what mom and HS sewing class taught me. It will help you immensely, and answer some of those basic questions you might have. Happy sewing!
