Subject: cupcake skirt top layers Author: just can't get it! I understand everything except how to figure out to cut the top two layers. After I fold my material to get even circle, how do I know where to begin cutting. I am having trouble with the waist area. It is a very small opening that will not fit over her waist. I'm sure I haven't truly explained my problem, but is there a tutorial somewhere that will walk me thru this? I have purchased a video off ebay and patterns from well know seamstress, yet neither truly explains how to adjust my cutting based on the size skirt I want. Any help is so very much appreciated. For example if I need a 6 inch layer, I measure 6 inches and then the waist/top opening would be around 12-15 inches...then that times 8 is plenty inches that I gather down to the waist size of 18-25 inches. I do not piece anything together as I dont like the seams in the top layers. My skirts are 2 layers of ruffles and 2-5 layers for the top depending on how long it is.
