The words "the pope is the antichrist" remind me of a passage from Candide:

The minister's wife looked out of the window at that moment, and seeing a man who was not sure that the Pope was Antichrist, emptied over his head a pot full of ..., which shows to what lengths ladies are driven by religious zeal.

The dots are in the translation I'm quoting from. She probably emptied a chamber pot on him.

And the translation I found on the internet said a pot full of water. Voltaire was a bit more lewd than that.
