Hi there,

Could you please help/advise on the following.

We have a desktop computer, 3y old, on which I had stored a lot of personal information in various folders on the C:\ drive. Suddenly last week the entire PC crashed saying "boot error" and insert boot disk into drive A:\. We took the PC to a computer maintenance shop and they have told us that we have lost all the data on the C: drive. I know this is the classic - well we should have backed up but the data I am most upset about losing consists mainly of photographs from a digital camera and we do not have a CD burner to save them on any other media except the PC.

The computer maintenance technician has said that the data is irretrievable. Is there really no hope to retrieve data in such a circumstance. They showed us a hard drive and said that in our case the mechanism had broken but is the data still not stored?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
