The Diamond Dolls 2002 National Pageant has been scheduled for August 18th in Staunton. Virginia. We will be having a preliminary for this on June 8th in Shenandoah, Virginia. You do not need to enter a preliminary to attend nationals...but you can win fees off your national fees. Hey everyone come on over and check out our new website. It is loaded with tons of new stuff and information.

Hatfield McCoy Pageants

We are going to start on Saturday April 27th and every Saturday after that up until May 11th and have a guestbook drawing. We will be giving away (1) $25 discount, (2( $15 discounts and (2) $10 discounts each Saturday for the glittz pageant. So get on over and sign the guestbook.

Don't forget to sign the guestbook for the 1/2 entry fee to the Hatfield McCoy Glitz Pageant on June 9, 2002. We will be awarding $2000 in saving bonds. The drawing will be held on May 1, 2002.

Also a drawing for 1/2 the entry fee to the Hatfield McCoy Natural Pageant will be held on that day.

My daughter has competed with all of these girls from time to time. Won some and lost some. But all of these girls are beautiful and their moms were very nice. I have seen them in glitz as well as natural. I would hate to pick! But I have to say that Alexis Dixon is my personal favorite. But I wouldn't count any of these cuties out!!!

I noticed you didn't mention interview. Isn't Cover Miss known for interview counting a lot? I completely agree with the total package standards, but I also think some mothers just have great taste in picking out outfits. I think cost definitely figures in, but I'm not so sure the one who wins will be the one whose mother spent the most money. And one thing you can't buy is the facial beauty thing. Who knows what will go this time.

Interview does not count for that much. Hey- I agree with you that a beautiful child (whose mother had great taste picking out clothes) should have an equal chance....but lets step into reality. There is no way you can compete with a total package child in a 1,500-5,000 dress, a 1,000 sportswear, a h/m artist who specializies in "pageant hair" (usually cost 150+), $5,000+ worth of photos from all the best photographers (retouched of course) and modeling lessons from a top pageant coach. (And don't forget the fake-tan, the colored contacts, the bleached hair, the hair extensions, the flippers, etc.) Now don't get me wrong, every now and then a "naturally" beautiful child will pull the win....but 9 out of every 10 will go to the total package. Theres not a great number of total package kids in VA (a lot of them won last year and a lot will be in the same age division this year....but go to nationals one time and you'll see what I'm saying)

Thanks for the fill in on Cover Miss. I know what goes at Cover Miss Nationals, but is ALL that going to be at the state. I mean we have a lot of the stuff you mentioned, but colored contacts and teeth flippers and $5000 in pictures. We thought $600 for pictures ought to be enough. Whoa! And we have been told that interview is very important and now we are told it's not. This must be one of those situations where you just have to be there to learn what's expected. Do girls who compete in casualwear have a chance against those in glitz sportswear?We have been told NOT to wear glitzy swimwear. It's seems like we are hearing conflicting things. Help please!

You won't find that many "total package" kids at state. (but look out if you go to nationals). Total package means:
1 Good Clothes
2 Good Modeling
3 H/M
4 Good photos

A "total package" just doesn't apply to pro-am. A total package natural child needs to know how to work a stage. They also need good photos and good clothes.To win at Cover Miss or any pageant you need to have it all. Clothes, modeling, H/M, and photos be it natural or glitz. You can't expect to win beauty just because you have the glitz dress!
As I understand at Cover Miss--interview is for close up appraisal! It seems to me that the directors of Cover Miss have added the casual wear to help include children that don't like or can't afford pro-am sports wear.This helps draw in more contestants. This is a business. It still leaves natural vs. glitz in gown/beauty. You always see this in pageants Cover Miss is no exception. Just think back to the last preliminary you attended.Pageant children stick out like sore thumbs at the local county type pageants, they are just too practiced and "total package" and the same is true for the "newbie" that is moving up to comptete on the more polished stage of circuit pageants. This happens at ever pageant at every level. Just some things to think about.

I have had an opportunity to think about the Cover Miss Pageant and I Have decided that JORDAN WILHELM will be the one to watch. She is the all around girl that the pageant system needs. She is very nice to all the other girls and her attitude is always positive. She is a winner off the stage as well as on. She does not have to have a crown to show that she is a winner.

I may not do it as well as others but I do my best. Besides, how did those "big names" get the big names. Everyone starts out new and earns their own reputations. Maybe they have the names now, but I'm sure they earned them through alot of work and by learning from their mistakes and trying to improve. I've always told my daughter it's about doing your best. I want my daughter to compete against the best. How else could she ever get any better. If you don't have good competition winning wouldn't mean anything. We are new to Cover Miss but are looking forward to a fun weekend where, hopefully, we'll make friends and do as well as possible.

You are exactly right!! My daughter is not what I would call a "big name" (others might and maybe only in VA) but she does do quite well. And Cover Miss State was our very first state pageant. And you do have to start somewhere. Everyone does. We went the first year as a learning experience and we learned alot and went on from there. Cover Miss is a fun and fair pageant to do. So go and have fun and remember that you have just as good a chance as the next person, whether it's your first time there or 5th. Have a great time!

The reality is that no one knows who has won any pageant untill those judges turn in their scores. The judges for Cover Miss come from out of state and usually from states that would have no idea who wins around Va. This in itself makes for a fair judging system. Way to go Miss Cindy for not using Mommies and other pageant directors for judges.
I believe it is wide open for anyone to win! So don't be intimidated by names - there will be good competition there.

I don't know all of the girls on the list. But Mia Ridley is a top favorite ALWAYS!! Heather Gibbs could very well pull off her group. She is a top notch competitor. WATCH OUT for Jordan Wilhelm who is a crowd favorite in talent and wins beauty a lot. Alexis Dixon is definitely a talent favorite also. She could take beauty and wins a lot. But don't discount pretty little Courtney Painter. She's a CHARMER!! Gabrielle Majors is great on stage and could do it too. She has a winning reputation. Elizabeth LLera has got what it takes too!!These are just my observations of the girls I've seen. I might miss the boat on all these girls, but they are all great and could make this pageant competition tough, tough, tough!!! I don't even want to think about who could take the overalls.

How would any child get experience unless they try. Isn't that the point to do your best and learn from the experience?! I don't know any of the girls you listed but would hope that they all do well. Pro-Am or not, it's time that both sides learn that there is room in pageants for each other and stop the bashing. These are CHILDREN you are talking about after all. I do not and will not ever talk badly about someone's child. It's just not fair. Nor does it do anything but make the person bashing look petty and jealous.WWJD?

I have had the opportunity to watch alot of the girls that will be competing in Cover Miss, all of the girls have an equal chance of winning.

I do not feel that this site is to slander or predict who will win a pageant. This gives the inpression that the winner has already been chosen. Each pageant is different, just depends upon what the judges are looking for that day.

You can compete in casual wear or sportswear and this allows the children who do not model a equal chance at winning.There is usually a equal number of modeling and non modeling children competing.Interview is a inportant part of this pageant. We were thinking about putting our 6 year old in Cover Miss this year but the comments on this board indicate only big names will win and others don't FIT IN. Who do you need to ask about CM videos from last year? Gosh! A lot of names aren't even on the board yet and it looks like some people already have the results figured out. After viewing the comments it seems very depressing. I really wanted to try out this pageant. Do natural kids stand a chance if they are good at what they do?

I agree that whoever said any child doesn't fit in is trying to be negative. Like at every pageant girls win who weren't predicted. Like LAST YEAR!! Don't listen to petty parents. You find them in every pageant system. Bring that child on to Cover Miss. There are many Cover Miss moms who don't feel intimidated by competition!

not fit in??pageants are to build kids up and not tear them down.if you think this child is nothing at all to worry about why get such an nasty attitude about it??why not try an attitude of kindness and accepting christian love?what would JESUS do?if your child truly merits the win then one more little kid who is not as experienced or doesn't have all the expensive clothes should not bother you.open up your heart.

That's about how many we always get at nationals,fewer at state. They make a good showing though and usually place. Some even win. Tiny Miss is over and the results are in. There was the heaviest showing of pro am contestants ever, but mainly in baby and tiny. There was one ot two I think in petite. They placed very well though I don't think any of them won. Lots in top 5 and top 10. Modeling was mainly natural but there were some pro am moves, but nothing to get out of sorts about. The hair and makeup was fine ( A few heavy makeups but again nothing to fuss about). Actually I saw some of the prettiest hair I've ever seen. And NO we didn't use one and are pleased with our child's placement. Now what was all that worry about the hair and makeup artists? Glitz did well and non glitz did well about like predicted. One overall had glitz dress but was very, very natural otherwise, the beautiful little Taylor Flick. One overall was more Miss America style and was beautiful also, Bethany Fleming. Miss Gail did a fine job and we all had so much fun. This proves natural and pro am can coexist at Tiny Miss when everyone knows the expectations!
