Aloha fellow classmates and other Kaunoa graduates,
Attending Kaunoa, those were the days. Long rides on the silver DeCoit bus from Wailuku. Sometimes riding the Blue and White. I seem to remember recess and May Day celebrations and friends. Recess was full of jacks and jump rope for the girls and milk covers and marbles and some mubly peg for the guys. Then later dodge ball and baseball. I remember getting up early to get the milkman to leave me new milk covers and then all the adjusting of the stacks as we played on the sidewalk behind the old cafeteria. Then all those 5 hole marble spots mostly between the monkeypod trees in front of the school mostly on the old cafeteria side. Oh yes.. there was steal the flag and other tag games mostly by the monkeypods on the new cafeteria side. I hated the sandburrs on the ball field across the road coming into the school. We didn't play there unless there wasn't any other room.
Well I better not go on and on but we were lucky that our parents had us go to Kaunoa. I discovered a few years ago that I also have my old copies of Cane Tops. It was fun to look at them. I think I still have pictures taken with my Brownie Hawkeye camera.
Lets here what other people remember.
Peace be with you,
James R. Davis, Sacramento, CA
