Today 8 hours of fishing 29 sauger. And only one that was a keeper. Had a few 13" 7/8 but that is not 14"/

Could have caught lots more small fish. But would move out of them. To keep from catching as many small ones.
Water Temp was 48.9

Thats a bummer to catch that many and just 1 keeper. Makes you wonder what has happened to all the fish 14" and over. After all the years the size limit and the creel limit has been in place makes one wonders why it is so hard to catch the bigger fish.

That part is easy.
WE are keeping most of the females. 75% of the fish 14" or over that we keep are full of eggs. So there is your state at work.
Fishing just keeps going down hill each year. But there was a lot of 13 1/2 or better fish caught and returned last year.
So it may pick up in a few weeks.
Heading back tomorrow that is if I am not frozen to the ground calling for a wind chill of 1 degree tonight.
Pete
