Who likes to fish for striper's?
I for one like them. Man they fight like crazy. And are good eating.
Anyone have a good way to rig up to fish for them?

I plan on trying them using planner boards soon. I believe it will work great here . And catch some of the big ones that no one ever catch.
I know for a fact there is some big ones in the Tn River here below Pickwick. AS around 1975 we caught a 17 lb and a 19 lb back then. so you know there is some big ones here.
Pete

I guess no one fishes for them Pete. The only way I have ever fished for them is when they running and casting to where they are breaking the water chasing shad.

Hoot here we rig up somewhat like fishing for catfish.
3 oz sinker on bottom, Then come up 24" to a 3-way swivel then a leader 16" out to the hook.
That is to fish live bait on or near bottom in the boils.
Works great. But always looking for better ways.

I plan on trying planer boards soon. Run a 8" skipjack out along the edge of treetops in the water.

red i don't fish for them. i know they fight like crazy but i do not like the taste of them. you should have some really big ones. i saw a 42 pounder caught at fort loudon dam last week. same river. i am not sure about average temperature but i beleive down where you are it should be a little warmer than here where all the mountain streams feed the river. warmer water should mean bigger fish.

Frank I know we have some nice ones. WE caught a 17 and 19 lb back in 1975. So you know theres some giants here now. Just need to figure out how to striper fish for the big ones. Not just at the dam for the 10 lb fish.
I like the striper's when done right on the grill or smoker. There great.

Pete
