I just got done reading all of the above messages and felt guilty that I've never supported this message board. It really is a great way to try to unify all 100+ working for Proscript.

I have lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area since 1994. Before that, I was a California girl (No, I didn't have a perpetual tan or a Valley Girl attitude!) I've been doing transcription since 1984, before which I was an LVN. I decided that typing patients' complaints was much better than listening to them in person. Besides, I get to sit all the time, which I do very well.

I "ran away" from my 19-year-old daughter in 1994 and ended up moving in with my parents here in Texas. Doing that was hard but produced two big blessings: 1) My daughter finally got her life straightened out and has become a very responsible mother and worker {she now lives close to me}; 2) I found a wonderful man here, and we've been married for almost 6 years now. My grandkids are Daniel (9) and Alyssa (6), and, as all grandparents know, they are the cat's meow! (I know I'm dating myself with that one!)

I love to read. I play keyboard for our church, and also play the harp for weddings, parties, etc. And, as most of you are aware, I love to criticize; that's why doing QA is such a perfect fit for me! I may be quiet and shy in person, but when I pick up that pen (a.k.a. keyboard), all shyness flies out the window. Sorry about that!

Well, so much for an introduction. Now if we can just get a lot more of you writing. Just remember that though we know your name (and how well you can spell), you are a faceless entity, so that should take the fear out of opening yourself up to strangers! As one preacher admonished his congregation: "After the service today, I want all of you who attend here regularly to go and expose yourselves to our visitors!" That must have been a California church.

There is one other hobby I have: Collecting bloopers made by either the dictator or the transcriptionist. I once had a doctor dictate: "Pt. has a history of impotence, but that has straightened up." He also said, "He has had no pregnancy that he has caused." And then there was a doctor who used the word "apparently" in almost every sentence, which "apparently" would have been okay except when he said: "Apparently, both breasts are missing."

Okay, I'll quit there. I have a ton of those, and maybe I'll share a few here and there just so we can get a much-needed laugh relief. And if I use any of y'all's mistakes, I promise to change the name to protect the guilty.

Cheri
