ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MARKET? IS IT A GOOD STATION TO WORK AT? I KNOW IT'S LISTED AS MARKET NUMBER SIX, BUT IS IT REALLY CONSIDERED LIKE BOSTON? IS IT A GOOD FEEDER MARKET TO OTHER TOP MARKETS??

There's only one station in Manchester - WMUR. What else there is of TV in that town is all Pax and crap.

As far as 'MUR is concerned, it pretty much plays itself up as the biggest fish in a tiny pond. Yeah, Manchester is part of the Boston DMA officially, but you can't actually sell against the Boston stations, so the area's broken out as a seperate trading area within the DMA. My experience from dealing with them while I was living there (I worked in radio) was that they were a bunch of pompous, arrogant jerks. They basically align themselves with the NH Republican Party and follow the Union Leader in lock step. The talent that's good almost immediately ends up in much larger markets or direct to net. The ones that aren't good remain at the station year after year after year after.......

If you can stomach the cesspool for a while and are good at clawing your way (or sleeping your way) to the top, then you can probably get out and hit a much bigger gig. Otherwise, try for Boston directly if you're interested in the area - you'll be paid better and there'll be less bullsh*t
