Subject: Leave...but not forever...

Ribbons of crimson streaked the sky. Clouds floated on the streamers of dawn, shimmering golden as they were dappled by the sun's rays.

Two ghost horses, dancing sunbeams, made their way up the steep cliff side, towards the entrance of the ravine. Dew, like silver jewels glistened on their coats, perched on their whiskers. Before they left, they surveyed the land, eyes strained against the blinding sunlight. Then, the younger horse seemed to fade into the dawn, becoming a veil of glittering, golden sunlight. His father, the stallion of the moon, called his mares, wishing them farewell, reassuring them.

He was going to roam, explore, meet new horses. But he would be back. For as long as they lived, these three mares and any foals they had were welcome here. They could leave whenever they liked, may it be for a day, or forever. Whenever they needed space and time to think, they could make the journey out of the ravine without any qualms. Also, they could explore the ravine. Many places were still left unexplored. Special hiding places could be discovered and cherished.

The moon stallion stood, like a frozen waterfall, staring intently into the hidden ravine, delighting in its beauty. A small whicker from behind coaxed him on. And he, too, became a veil of sunlight.
