Subject: Cardinals Still In Rebuilding

Last year I pretty much stripped down my offense with the trades of Pujols and Drew, but I'm still looking to add pieces for the future, and I have a few pieces for the present, if anyone is interested.

I'm willing to trade any of my offensive players for the right price. The ones that might be interesting are:

Chris Haas. 36/99, 28 years old. Plays 1B and 3B. Arbitration until '08.

Jared Sandberg, 40/98, 27 years old. Plays 3B with 70 FA. Arbitration until '06 (currently makes $800k).

Kevin L. Brown, 40/99/65, good fielding C. For $8.75M until '06, you get one of the game's best catchers. Made the All-Star team last season and did not deteriorate during the offseason (he's 31). Salary is steep but will be dealt with fairly if you're interested.

Jonny Gomes, 36/94/69, OF. He's only 24, so I don't know how good he's going to be. His power jumped big-time this offseason, and should top out at 99 by next season. Expect contact to go up as well. Arbitration until '09. I'll be asking more for him than the others, as I would have no problem keeping him on for rebuilding.

Dmitri Young, 63/63, OF. He's only under contract for one year.

Also, everyone on my pitching staff is available too, except Quevedo. That means that for the right price, you could get:

Esteban Yan, righty, 93/41/84. I initially refused to trade him, but the ban has just been lifted. Unlike Brown, I will not make special considerations for his salary (5.5M through '08), as this is the best closer in the game (leads league in career saves by a gigantic margin) and is well worth the price. Not every team will have what it takes to pry him away from me.

Eddie Guardado, lefty, 99/16/50. Another elite closer who makes less than half as much as Yan. His save stats have been terrible only because I've been using him as a setup man for Yan, but opponents batted .193 and slugged .322 against him last year. You will get more than your money's worth with this guy (2.5M through '07).

Rob Bell, righty, 77/72/61. Doesn't sound like he'd be that good, perhaps, but last year he went 13-9 with a 3.62 ERA. He'll do well in the middle of your rotation. Impending FA.

Mark Redman, lefty, 75/72/70. Injured most of last season, but in the time he saw he put up a 2.70 ERA and I expect him to get even better this year. Impending FA.

Chris Narveson, lefty, 62/72/99. As with Gomes, big improvement in the offseason. As with Gomes, young (he's 23). As with Gomes, if I don't hear an adequate offer, I'm happy to keep him on.

Don't forget, if you have any interest in any other guys besides the ones you see here, they're all available too (except Quevedo).

If you should decide to pursue a trade with me, I'm looking primarily for prospects or draft picks, and it wouldn't hurt to have a few expiring contracts either.
