Date Posted: 20:30:11 09/14/04 Tue In reply to: Vernon 's message, "Red Birds, Going Once, Going Twice..." on 12:47:52 09/12/04 Sun After a standout rookie season, McKay Christensen had two off years in which he struck out more than is healthy. Now, all of a sudden, he's taken off! His ratings aren't great, but statistically he's one of the game's elite leadoff men. He's batting .322, he's 8th in the majors in hits, first in the majors in doubles by a wide margin (he has 25; the next best, Cristian Guzman, has 19) and top-10 in the NL in stolen bases, as he has been every season (despite not getting on base often enough most of the time). Meanwhile, if you need power from your catcher, Kevin L. Brown is your man. At long last, I remember why I paid him 8.75 million until 2006. The man is a slugging machine! Not for nothing did he make the NL All-Star team last year. This year, he has 14 homers. Only Bonds and Pujols have more. If you think Harmon Killebrew was a great baseball player, why would you not want Kevin L. Brown? These are probably my two best bargaining chips aside from Yan. Seguignol has been putting up good numbers too, but he's not quite on their level. And as I've said before, all these guys are available (still not Quevedo, though, so stop asking about him)! I'm still in rebuilding mode and it's time I acted like it! Jay I.
