Date Posted: 19:33:52 07/01/05 Fri Was the #3 man in my rotation until acquiring Pedro and I'd rather shore up my pen for the stretch run and the playoffs, so I'll trade Hitchcock to the highest bidder. Could be a nice veteran pitcher to build a contending team with next year or could help push you into the playoffs this year. Hitchcock has never had a fallout with a cameraman and does not give up seven runs to the Tigers ala Big Unit. Also available are any other pitchers not named Mariano, Joshua, or Nickolas. That includes Van Poppel, Cueto, Ainsworth, Politte, Lundquist, Embree, and Eyre - no slouches in that bunch. --- In non-trade news, rookie catcher Joe Catsam missed his first game of the season. While he won't match a famous former Columbia Lion's streak, he told a Sun-Sentinel reporter that he plans on playing 161 games a year and will take off June 19th every year to honor Lou Gehrig's birthday. He plans on donating his annual bonus for winning the World Series to the ALS Associtation. Reported trade rumors having Catsam and Brandon Phillips going to the New York Mets in a megadeal appear to be unfounded, and were instead attributed to wet dreams of the ownership in Flushing. I guess you still can't trust the Post. Catsam intends to finish his career as a Florida Marlin, adding to the legacy of Marlins backstops which have included Charles Johnson (first retiree in DP history), Mike Piazza, Pudge Rodriguez, Mike Redmond, Greg Zaun, Paul LoDuca, and Benito Santiago.
