Subject: Working Windy

Holly, Emily and i took Gone with the Wind to the track. I warmed him up around the track. When I was finished, I rode over to Emily. "Ready to time him over 7 furlongs?" I asked.
"Sure.' she said. I walked him over to the gate. He loaded easily. I got into position. We had a good break. He stretched out and poured on the speed. The wind whipped his mane back into my face. We passes the 4 furlong marker and I was sure we were flying. He galloped hard to the 7 furlong marker. I pulled him up slowly. 1 min and 18 seconds was a good time for 7 furlongs. I was sure we were under that. "Wow!" Exclaimed Emily," It's a wonder there isn't fire behind you guys. You ran it in 1 min and 13 seconds!" "Get out!" I said. "No, it's true." Emily said showing me the stopwatch. I gave Windy a big pat. We cooled him out and hosed him down. We dried him off and took him home. He was a good racer.
