Mock race with Gone With The Wind and Gunsmoke

I walked down to the racing barn with my husband Alex .I got out and groomed Gunsmoke and Alex groomed Gone With The Wind.Then we tacked up the 2 colts in racing tack and took them out to the track where we warmed up the 2 thoroughbreds at a trot and canter.Then Alex,me and the horses loaded into the starting gate.Gunsmoke fidgeted beneath me waiting for the gate to open.5,4,3,2,1 the gates opened but Smoke stumbled coming out of the gate.Smoke was fine but Wind and Alex were already 5 lenghts ahead of us by the time Smoke recovered from his stumble.Smoke was a distance horse and a late closer so I moved him up 2 lenghs and settled there.We raced around the track.The furlongs sped by.At the exactly right time I asked Gunsmoke for more speed and he sped up.Alex and wind had started going faster also.I asked Smoke for another gear and he moved up.We closed on Alex and Wind,1 length,2 lengths,3 lengths, finally the 2 racehorses came neck to neck.Smoke and Wind sped towards the finish line.Smoke started going even faster,he had another gear left!!!Smoke and I beat Alex and Wind by a length!!Alex and I slowed dwn the horses and dismounted.Alex said"that is one fast horse"!I said "yep he is".We untacked and bathed both the horses.Wind drank from the hose and Smoke had a fit because he spooked at the hose.i settled him down and finished his bath.Finally me and Alex turned out the 2 horses in seperate paddocks and walked back to the house.
