Subject: help!

My lil flyer is about 4 and a half years old now and this is the first time i have seen this. I noticed just tonight that his eye was puffy and he seems to have a bit of fluid of something stringing the middle together. I do not know if he just got something stuck that has irritated it or if he has some sort of infection. Does anyone have any advice? Should i just wait it out or should i take him to a small animal vet? Are flyers prone to eye infections?

heres a picture for a better diagnosis

this isnt a "blinking" look it's just swollen. thanks for any advice - Katie
