Subject: Cotton Ball Party

One of my F.S. Zoo's favorite things is when I change out the bedding. Boy, that night is Cotton Ball Party! LOL!! The next morning I know I will have a mess to clean up, for I think they spend the ENTIRE night shredding and moving them around and then arranging them to suit their little whimsical selves. They stash pieces on the tree branches, on the ropes and hanging chew toys, in the corners, behind nest boxes, etc. Sometimes when I open the door to the inside aviary room, it looks as though it has snowed! Being well trained by my crew, I NEVER remove all of the old bedding at once; I'll do some nest boxes with new and wait a few days to finish the rest--course, I'll find a smidgen of the old piled in with the new, and that's OK, too.

>(100% cotton balls (not to be confused with 'cosmetic
>puffs') ...) have always been my flyers bedding of
>choice, too. While I've never seen any of my flyers'
>pups get 'threads' of cotton wrapped anywhere,

>comfortable for the flyers. That's not to say one
>can't bed on paper -- flyers will shread toilet tissue
