(I agree, a 'single' does bond 'closer' -- but having been in ...) both situations at different times, I'd say that you really don't 'lose' anything by getting two together. Just make sure you spend a great deal of time with the twosome early on, carrying them both, playing with them both, and you'll likely find they consider you part of their 'Three Muskateers' group. I now have 11 flyers, and all are friendly -- although not nearly so 'devoted' as was my solo flyer, Molly Kule. All are happy to play 'with' (read that 'on') me, and jump willingly to me, and I have the advantage of knowing that when I really don't have time for them, they're not lonely. Where Molly Kule went everywhere with me, I know I can leave this crew alone, and not feel guilty.

Of course, I got two at once, because I though a slightly older flyer (the two were not less than 10 weeks old, IMHO, when I bought them. I bought them from a shop that imported them from Texas, and was told that there really was no way to know exactly how old the pups were. They were, of course, weaned.) My plan was to breed them in order to get a flyer pup that would still need formula, which I would then supply, 'cementing' a closer bond. That really never became necessary, as the twosome were, friendly enough -- and also IMHO, a flyer pup is healthier when allowed to grow on only 'the natural formula, from its natural container'.

Either way, I wish you luck with your decision. I also highly recommend you visit, register, at:
National Flying Squirrel Association's Messageboard. Do consider joining the NFSA -- a very well spent $20/year!
