Subject: Cancer - how to eat to avoid cancer


Specific cancer preventing foods and bevarages

You can to a far extent protect yourself against canser with a good general diet and by adding special food types, spices and herbs to your diet. Learn about these ingredients here.

Eating a healthy diet will help to prevent cancer. Such a diet is composed of food not processed or altered industrially. It contains a blending of fish, poultry, mushrooms, whole grain bread and cereals, vegetables and fruits. It has only small amount of red meat, it has a moderate content of fat and does not contain artificially added sugar.

Such a diet has some vegetables or fruit at each meal and those must be raw or cooked in such a way that the nutrients are not washed out. Such a diet has no chemically processed fat, and all fat comes from a blending of sources like olive, fish, nuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, rape and flax.

But some types of food or spices are thought to help especially much to prevent cancer, due to peoples experience, and for some of these the cancer preventing effect have been verified scientifically:

- Generally plants, fruits and spices with a strong colour or a strong taste have cancer preventing effects because of the contents of bioflavonids and other anti-oxidants.

- Eating fish, and especially fat fish, some times each week also have a protecting effect against prostate cancer.

- Fiber-rich foods, such as whole corn bread or cereals, vegetables and fruit help to prevent colon cancer.

- Onion and Garlic have for long been thought to help prevent cancer. Scientific studies made in China found that eating raw garlic at least twice a week reduces the risk of getting lung cancer with 44% for non-smokers and 30% for smokers.

- Kale, chia seeds, flax, turmenic, broccoli, cabbage, mustard, and cauliflower are vegetables with proven
strong cancer preventing effects, probably due to the content of indole-3-carbinole.

- Red peppers give a protecting effect against prostate cancer.

- Evidence points to the conclusion that green tea can help prevent cancer. However studies so far undertaken do not sort out all other variables that may give the same result.

- Some studies have indicated that drinking coffee reduces the incidence of cancer, but others studies have thrown doubt upon these results.
