My mother was Leila James Wootten Miller of Wilmington, N.C., the grandchild of Biloxi, Miss., harbormaster Capt. Harry Copp James (d1923), born New Orleans 1848; the son of Robert Wm. James born Wilmington, N.C., 1811, died Biloxi 1882, lived New Orleans, in 1850's LtCol. Holmes Co., Miss., militia. The son of Wilmington War of 1812 artillery 4th Sgt. Joshua James, Sr., who died Lexington, Miss., in the 1850's. His son John Sage James remained in Wilmington, son Joshua James, Jr., removed to New Carthage, La. Daughter Sarah Julia James wed merchant Andrew McIntyre of Kenansville, N.C. Joshua Sr's father Capt. John James was killed age 16 by Tories whilst crossing the Lumber River. His widow, Mrs. Martha Pugh James wed Ephrain Sholar. Jim
