I was in the early hours of my life
When I met you
The feeling you gave me were rife
With the love you had to give

As we walked through our days
We plotted and planned
You set my world ablaze
With the love you gave

In the warm nights you set my heart afire
Bringing a warmth I had never felt
You played my heart like lyre*
With the love I craved

Then as the midnight of my life approached
A coldness took hold
Your life I felt I encroached
Even though your love I still needed

But shortly after midnight
I lost all hope as
You put out the light
With the love you hid

*Lyre�noun: a harp used by ancient Greeks for accompaniment
