Subject: Vet arriving. a vets diary

Attractive, white coated vet crunched accross the gravel to the yard. He had come to check the foals over. "Hello." He said as he saw Ryan the yard manager. I was shown a large well bedded stable containing a bright bay mare and a chestnut filly foal. The mare looked well despite being slightly aged. The foal was bright and very attractive. Long legs would always be long, but that was usual for the thoroughbred breed. She was perfect. In the ajacent stable stood and dapple grey mare. She moved back away from me, nosing the dark bundle by her feet. The filly stirred and looked at me with large eyes. Ryan caught the mare while is looked her over. She was fine, normal, I checked her heart, breathing and temp. heart was a little high, but I was a strangle toucging her. I patted the mare, who looked a little stressed, but I was told this was normal for her. Ryan asked me if I would check a chestnut mare to see if she was pregnant. She was in a nearby stable, tied up. I rubbed some jelly on the mares stomach and unsed a hand held ultra sound scanner. I couldn't see much, but there was something, little, tiny in fact, but it was there. "Congratulations horsey, your going to be a mommy!" Ryan paid me the call out fee, and then money for the check ups. A nice little farm, I thought.
