i know this is way after the fact. sorry.
oujia boards are like any other tool. if you don't know how to use it properly, or if you are unsure about it, DON'T. period.
you should research before using one.
because, yes, if you are not careful or in the right conditions, using the oujia board can be potentially very dangerous. never use it in your house, or where anyone lives.
don't ask stupid questions, be respectful, always think positively. that helps in avoiding spirits that may be of the shady type.
there are things you can do to protect yourself.
spirits like water and flowers, so i've heard, and it has given me good results to have a vase of flowers around.
don't let it count down through the numbers, or go through the alphabet, the spirit will get out.
white candles are good for protection and positive energy.
don't ask about god death or how they died.
i wouldn't recommend doing it alone if you are inexperienced.
if you start to get scared, it's time to say goodbye and turn over the board, and put it away. never do anything you're scared of. ever. it's just common sense.
