RE: Dan Rohweders posted prayer request

A number of weeks ago I emailed yeager to share my most pressing need at the time: What to specialize in. It was easy to know that I was to enter medicine, God continually opened the doors and led me down the paths to the place I am now, and for that I give Him all the glory. The moment of truth for us medical students is deciding upon a specialty to train in after we recieve the right to practice medicine. For me this decision has been a terrifying one. Trying to decide with limited knowledge and less experience what I should do for the rest of my life. This choice will have overwhelming influence on the course of life for the next 40 years. Quality of life, home life, patient care, my marriage, children, ministry and the list could go on. Truly having a peace about such a monumental decision could only come from the Lord.

Up until April I had plotted my course to specialize in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. During April I was in colorado working at an inner city health center run by Christian doctors serving the uninsured, medicaid and indigent population of the city. During the course of my 4 weeks at this clinic the Lord revealed to me a new vision for my life and career. Needless to say It was an about-face and that left me uncomfortable. Sometimes getting use to a new idea even when confident it is of the Lord is difficult.

Slowly this new vision has taken root and is growing. Stepping back from my previous thoughts and motives I can see the truth in God's leading and I am excited for the future.

In sum, I have decided to specialize in Family Medicine with later fellowship training in Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine or Obstetrics.

Thank you for your prayers in this matter. Please pray for me now as I am studying for the Step 2 of the Boards (medical licensing exam) in August. I am also entering the residency application phase, please pray the Lord would lead and direct Myndi and I to the right program.

Again, thank you all for your prayers. What an encouragement it is to lift each others needs up before the Lord daily.

Dan Rohweder
