I had an additional thought - if "events tend to restructure themselves" so they match the original timeline as closely as possible, what's to prevent Scorpius going back, obliterating the Scarrans before they left their homeworld, and returning to the present only to find that another aggressive species has taken their place? He could even find himself still alive, still a hybrid - but this time a Sebacean/New Nasty Race hybrid. He could even have a medical problem corresponding to his original heat problems.
