Date Posted: 22:19:25 03/31/03 Mon IMOGEN ANNESLEY PLAYS JANE At the age of twenty-one Imogen Annesley already has an impressive list of credits to her name, which began with her debut performance at the age of two! She left school when she was fourteen to appear in the acclaimed Robbery Under Arms, and Abductions, as well as compering Channel 10’s Ten out of Ten. In 1985 Annesley won the lead role in Playing Beattie Bow for the South Australian Film Corporation in which Moya O’Sullivan also appeared. Following her portrayal of a teenage junkie in Kennedy Miller’s mini-series Vietnam, Annesley appeared in the Sydney Theatre Company production, The Madras House, the feature Howling III - The Marsupial and the Seven Network mini-series Flair. For the past three years Annesley has divided her time between Sydney and London, where she was in fact born. Whilst in Europe she appeared in the mini-series William Tell for American television, the David Hare feature Strapless with Bridget Fonda, and was then cast in a leading role in Granada Television’s Families, shot in both England and Australia. She is currently in England making the second series. Annesley has also worked as both a model and dancer, appearing in music videos for Jimmy Barnes, and the British dance queen Kym Mazelle. “I really did get some incredible breaks”, she admits. “I’ve worked with some really interesting people and have been very lucky.” Annesley heard about GARBO from a friend while she was still in London. Another actress, cast in the role, was injured in a motorbike accident and was to be replaced. “I rang Richard [Kent, the casting agent] from London and auditioned the day I got back, still very jet-lagged.” Says Rule: “We were very fortunate. Imogen hadn’t been available to audition for us earlier in the year - she was overseas. But happily fate intervened. After seeing her performance I believe that she is destined for considerable greatness.” Annesley plays Jane, whom Steve falls for in GARBO. He mistakenly takes her to be a philosophy student. Says Kearney: “she saved the day for us when she was cast at the last minute. She gave the film exactly what we needed and she lights up the big screen. I’m glad we cast her. It made the falling in love bit easy!” To be continued Belive it or not! "I'm gobsmacked" L&H N [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
