Here is an update on wednesday's meeting:
Mt SAC students including our own president Javier Gomez and student body president Becky Meza and VP Armida Mendoza
spoke eloquently and convincingly on their stands againts the proposed cuts. For their part, the trustees reaffirmed their committment to education saying they have not yet voted on the cuts and urging students to write to governor Davis and to the state legislature. Mt SAC trustee Nancy Rice said the statewide budget is full of gaps and there is a significant deficit and it could get a lot worse in the next five years if students don't get involved. So student participation in this critical issue is necessary in preventing this situation from getting out of hand...for its mart MeCha vows to keep you guys informed to do our best in combating class cuts of any kind.....
