I oiled up my saddle and bridle and set them out to dry. Bored I decided to bring out Penny and take her out bareback. I forgot she hadn't been ridden in a while. I brought her around in a halter and had my bareback pad positioned nice and high. I hopped on at the mounting block just as the sun was starting to set. "Perfect," I thought, "I'll be at the meadow once it sets." Of course to make it to the meadow on time I'd have to canter. I jogged her out of the stable yeard and nudged her into a nice lope. She went into her transition smoothly and continued until we reached about halfway. Once we reached the halfway point she started bucking and twisting. Hanging on tightly with my legs I managed to stay on. I immediatly put her to a walk and considered going back. I wanted to see my sunset and continued on. I reached the meadow safely AFTER the sunset. I cantered home and Penny was still hyper. In a bad mood, I took off the bareback pad and put on my tack. I took her out in the arena and ran her for a bit and that got the energy out of her. Of course I was only on her for half of the running. Once I started my legs couldn't grasp to the oiled saddle. I hung on for a bit while I tried to get her to stop but of course freshly oiled reins slipped and my hands slipped straight off. SHortly after I was in the dirt.
