Subject: Are You Ready?

Luke 21:28, 32 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

From Luke 21:5 down through verse 27 Jesus gives the signs to watch for concerning the end of the age as we know it. It should be noted that He said "when these things begin to come to pass" we should look up as our redemption is drawing near to us. How many of us would begin to doubt that the signs have begun to come to pass. False Christs (vs. 8), wars and commotion (vs.9), nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom (vs. 10), earthquakes, famines, pestilences (vs. 11), persecutions (vs. 12), betrayal by family and friends (vs. 16), Jerusalem compassed by armies (vs. 20). All of these cited verses up through 20 could have been fulfilled by 70 A.D. as that is when Jerusalem fell to the Roman armies but as Israel did not repent and accept Jesus as Messiah it has a future fulfillment to that date. Verse 24 shows the necessity of a future fulfillment by the prophecy that "they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." It has been only recently that Israel controlled Jerusalem. On June 7,1967 Jerusalem including the "old city" was under the control of Israel and not the Gentiles. While the times of the Gentiles will not officially be over until Jesus returns in the Advent and destroys all nations that come against Jerusalem it will soon come.

As Jerusalem and all of Israel are surrounded by enemy nations at this time we can see the "hand writing on the wall". We are almost at the appointed time (Dan. 11:35) and we must all prepare our hearts and keep them prepared. We, as Christians, will soon stand before the judgment seat of Christ (Rom. 14:10, 2 Cor. 5:10) and we need to realize we will be judged on what we have done as Christians. Not for salvation but for reward or loss as is set forth in 1 Cor. 3:11-15.

There are two things that have recently happened that has caused me to revisit the Bible on these prophesied events.

The 1st came as a surprise to me as I had not heard anything on the news concerning this. I came across it as a news item on Free Republic. Here it is:

Turkey Dries Up the Euphrates
June 11, 2014   •  From theTrumpet.com
An impending water shortage threatens millions in the Middle East.
By Callum Wood

The Syrian civil war has once more taken a dire turn for the worse. Turkey has altered its strategy against its opponents, the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Instead of simply aiding the Syrian rebels, Turkey is now also killing them with dehydration. The problem is, this brutal act threatens the lives of millions of Syrian and Iraqi citizens.
The crisis revolves around the Euphrates River, which quickly became the Euphrates Creek when Turkey completely cut off the water flow upstream of Syria, reported Al Akhbar on May 30. The Euphrates originates in Turkey and passes through the Atatürk Dam before flowing into Syria and Iraq. By cutting off the flow and directing it into the reservoir, Turkey has lowered water levels downstream.

Water levels in Lake Assad, Syria’s largest body of water, have dropped by 20 feet since Turkey shut off the water supply. The Euphrates hydrates large parts of Syria.
Middle East expert Daniel Pipes explained the looming disaster as genocide by way of “terminal dehydration.” Cutting off a nation’s water supply is potentially fatal in its severity and indiscriminate in its victims. The dry and arid regions of northeastern Syria will quickly empty if one of the most basic necessities of human life dries up.
The problem extends beyond Syria. Much of Iraq’s freshwater supply originates in Turkey and flows through Syria before it is collected in dams in Iraq. If these dams experience a sharp drop in water and pressure, they could collapse. Daniel Pipes said that if one of these dams, the Mosul Dam, collapsed parts of Baghdad itself would be under water within a few hours. Within two hours, the city of Mosul, home to 1.7 million Iraqis, would be a Mideast Atlantis.
Shutting down the Euphrates and endangering the lives of millions testifies to the brutality of the Syrian civil war. Both sides continue to outdo one another in barbarity. The current death toll stands at well over 150,000, but that number could multiply if the two sides continue to invent new, indiscriminate, extreme ways of killing each other.

The Syrian civil war is engulfing more and more of the Middle East as time goes on. Turkey is supporting the rebels, as are the Sunni Arab nations; Lebanon is heavily involved through Hezbollah; Iran is funding Assad’s regime; and now Iraq may take greater action as its cities are threatened by more than just terrorists.
The civil war is not over yet, and the region has far more blood to spill before the end. Massive shifts are about to occur within Syria and the Middle East. Where will the increasing tensions and brutality lead? Read editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s article

Reference: Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. I do not see this as being a fulfillment of Rev. 16:12 but it should stand as a wake up call to all as to the time we are in. If Syria can close a dam and dry up the Euphrates how hard will it be for God to shut off the water in the tribulation when the sixth vial is poured out?

The second thing that stirred my mind is the sudden developments in Iraq which is Babylon, Shinar or Assyria as you prefer. Elements of al Qaeda carving out what they aspire to turn into a separate Sharia governed nation apart from Syria and Iraq is truly troubling in it's severity and speed of victory over what should have been well defended areas of Iraq. What truly got my attention though is the acronym I.S.I.S as it has been written in the media. It is supposed to stand for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

The Isis I am familiar with is the goddess Isis. This pagan goddess is commonly associated with Egypt more so than any other country. The interesting thing is that this goddess was actually transported from Babylon to Egypt. She was originally known as Semiramis who was the mother and then wife of Nimrod. For an interesting study you might use a search engine and search for information on Semiramis/ Isis/ Tammuz, Cupid and the Queen of Heaven. It is quite revealing as you will see all these pagan gods and goddesses originated in Babylon. It started with Nimrod in Babylon and it will end with Mystery Babylon the mother of harlots in Rev. 17 and 18.

"Allat can be identified with Asherah (Elat) in Canaan, and possibly with the Hittite Kubaba.  With the coming of the Greeks and Romans, Allat was identified with Athena and Minerva." (written below the pictures on the link to the right) (al-muqaddasarabianblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/deity-allat.html). Ashera; Ashtoreth; Astarte are all the same goddesses and are identical to Isis. Another interesting link is: bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Topical.show/RTD/cgg/ID/780/Ashera-Ashtoreth-Astarte.htm
(Note: I had to remove the Http://www from the urls. Voy thought I was trying to spam and wouldn't let me post the complete address.)

Whether the acronym I.S.I.S was crafted or coincidental I don't know but I do know that the mind of Satan is quite able to slip in his messages very subtly. I also know that time IS running out and we need to be looking upward for Jesus is coming soon.

But it has been foretold centuries ago. It seems to me that Israel may have to push that button that causes the whole region to be blown to kingdom come, and it won't be their doing. It'll be a response to Iran or other Islamic countries in the region. That'll truly be the end, won't it?

Israel "pushing the button" as Israel is slated for initial defeat leading up to Armageddon. Ezekiel 38 lays out what will happen in great detail. The alliance that will come against Israel is named and it is the alliance that is shaping up today. For the most part it will be the Muslim hordes that attack with the backing of Russia and possibly China. It is all murky at this point but as the alliances form through these wars in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia it will grow much clearer.

At any rate just know that it is coming and when these armies have Israel on her knees then the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will return and defeat the enemies and bring in the Kingdom. Rev. 19:11-21 with Zech. 14:1-11. If you read Ezekiel 38, Rev. 19:11-21 and Zech. 14:1-11 you will know more than the world leaders who are going to be foolish enough to try to destroy Israel. It ain't gonna happen because God ain't gonna let it happen!
