Hi Tayab,

the location of an epicentre can be detected in 2 ways. 1st (I think the worse one) ist to find the place with most destruktion and changes on the earth's surface.
2nd (I think the better one): Seismic observatories measure the difference between the first P(rimary) wave and the first S(econdary) wave. Ou of this difference you can calculate the distance to the epicentre. Now you need at least 3 observatories for three different distances. Than you can draw circles with the calculated distances as radius on a map. They should have only one commom point, wich is the location of the epicentre.
