Subject: Any suggestions for a short stay inTGG

Hey guys, i will arrive TGG 12:00 in the noon when back from Redang but Airasia's flight will be delayed to 21:00 in the evening. Anyone has some suggestions where to visit during the 9 hours in TGG?

For those who are first timers at K.T. you have a choice of walking around the river estuary with the smallest lighthouse I've seen.

Or hire a van with driver cum guide and he will take you and show you around. There is the cultural aspect to K.T. Check it out at www.pinganchorage.com website for details. [Not affliated with agency, have been using them since 2002]

Or a day trip to Pulau Bidong for more snorkelling and historical visit to the former Vietnamese refugee settlement - recheck if the timing is permissible, i.e. if it is not too much of a rush; 9 hours with travelling time may or may not be adequate for such excusions.

What i usually suggest to my guest is rent a room. Those cheap backpackers place like Sri Tanjung (starts at RM35) in front of the bus station or AAA (starts at RM18) in front of Pasar Payang to leave your bags and then explore. From there you can take the boat ride (penambang) across the river and back, stroll around and explore Pasar Payang. Run errands (banks, internet etc) and a lot more. Be adventurous and explore. KT is not such a big town but your 9 hours will seem to fly by. There is a couple of travel agents near the Syahbandar Jetty (infront of the Post Office) where you could enquire and maybe join in on a half day tour of KT.
After all the exploring has been done, have dinner while watching the sun go down at Zie's Cafe (riverside infront of Post Office) and hop on to a taxi (make prior arrangements with the taxi) at around 7.30pm. You should arrive at the airport around 8pm just in time for your check-in.
