Subject: Learn to Dive - which is the best?

I am planning a trip to Redang in Aug, but had a few queries, wondering if anyone could help;

1) Typical Price of a PADI open waters certification (crash course) (there will be two of us)

2) Will it be possible to attend course by Leisure Divers and stay at different resorts? Are they affiliated to Redang Reef?
What is their most updated contact phone number? (the number quoted has a message saying that it has now changed to a six-digits number..)

If so, Would there be a pickup/ drop-off service?

3)If I want to go from Berjaya resort to the Long Beach / East side of the island, will it be the quoted RM 300 / boat (for 2 of us?)

4) Any ways to have spa services / Massages after 6pm? (i.e. after the PADI course parts?)

Would appreciate any comments.

With so many dive centres at Redang, pricing should be competitive, esp. at Pasir Panjang. Expect to pay anything from RM700 upwards.

Most dive centres are run independently from resort operators. Even if they run by the resort, you can stay at one resort and use a different dive centre.

This info from the Leisure Divers website:

If you're staying at Pasir Panjang, just walk. If you're at Berjaya, take a course from Berjaya dive centre - don't bother taking a course at Pasir Panjang unless you're willing to pay a lot to charter boats to bring you to and fro. Of course, you could hike through the forest everyday... Even if such a service is available, the additional price wouldn't be worth it.

Depends who you charter the boat from (different operators at the village outside Berjaya - some depart from Sungei Redang instead of from Berjaya Beach). Prices are usually for the boat rather than by headcount, and depend on whether it's a speedboat (more expensive) or the slower fishing boat.

Definitely not provided by the dive centre! :)
Check with the resort for such services.
