Subject: Shops and Restaurants on Redang

I was just wondering if anyone had any info on the sorts of shops etc there are on Redang. I'm staying at the Berjaya Resort and was just wondering what we won't be able to get on the island and would have to bring with us.

Also, if anyone could recommend any restaurants and give us an idea of price, that would be great,

Thanks in advance,
Duncan

Will also be going to Redang in September, and was wondering about the shops and restaurants as well. I guess we will just have to find out for ourselves

I've just come back from 5 days on Redang. It was my first time as well. I stayed on the Pasir Panjang side of the island which was pretty well stocked with whatever you needed. There were various shops selling food, snacks and souveniers. We intended to check out the various hotels' restaurants but in the end ate all our meals at our hotel.

We did a jungle trek from my hotel (Coral Redang) to the Berjaya Redang Beach Resort. Berjaya is in a bay of its own with "no escape" unless you charter a boat or trek through the jungle like we did (it was harder than we thought actually).

Berjaya looked like a huge resort / hotel and I doubt you'll have problems getting hold of anything you might need. But you'll be at the mercy of the hotel.

There is another Berjaya on Redang of course, which is the golf resort and no beach. I assume you are speaking of the beach resort.
