Re: Berjaya snorkelling -- Alex Kang, Tue, Jan 20 2004, 13:04:20
Berjaya Redang does not have a housereef right in front of it. Instead it has very clear, calm waters (it is well sheltered within a bay) with sandy bottom and one of the best beaches in Redang.
If you want to snorkel and see corals, you'll have to venture further out in the bay - the corals are along the sides of the bay. Alternatively, you can also enquire at the resort or at the nearby village (about 5-10 min walk away) for half- or full-day snorkelling packages run by the villagers which cover a few different locations around the island for snorkelling.
You can dine in any of the F&B outlets within Berjaya or the village style restaurants outside.
June is probably more crowded than August as it coincides with school holidays in Malaysia & Singapore. Still, it's possible to avoid crowds if you pick weekdays and avoid public holiday long weekends & school holidays. Check the holiday schedules in my 'visiting' section on my website.
Rgds,
Alex.
