Subject: Book direct from Laguna or Ping Anchorage?

Hi,
I want to go to Redang this May and intend to stay in Laguna Resort. Read that ping anchorage is good but wondering is there any difference whether booking directly from Laguna or from ping anchorage?

Because I see that the price offered is exactly the same and Laguna provides land transport from KT to Jetty too.
Any advantage booking from ping anchorage?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Good question...

I suspect it is no different from booking hotel accommodations directly through the hotel or through a representative travel/tour agent. Same thing with booking airfares from the airline and from agents.

From past experience with both hotels and airlines, agents seem to have more flexibility in offering discounts or some additional benefits/attractions (e.g. free gifts, meal vouchers, excursions, promotional items etc.). Though advertised prices between the two are similar, some of these 'carrots' can be negotiated with the agent depending on how badly they want your business, and how large your group is. There is no good reason for the hotel/airline to compete head-on with their representative agents since they are supposed to be in a 'win-win' partnership.

You'll just have to try out your negotiating skills with Laguna and Ping Anchorage...

Rgds,
Alex.
