Subject: Redang Coral Bay resort of Laguna???

1) Having trouble on deciding whether to stay at the Coral Bay or Laguna resort? Anyone got any tips or comment?
2) Is everyhting on the island within walking diatance?
3) Shall be arriving to the island by Air Berjaya. Apparently, I need to make my way from the airport to some jetty. What's the jetty called, what transport is available and how much does it cost?

You should be able to arrange with the resort for pickup from Redang airport and transfer to the resort. The jetty near the airport is just known as Kampung jetty. Most resort transfers will include a van transfer from the airport to Kampung jetty followed by a boat transfer to the resort.

Though it's not a large island, not everything is within walking distance as there are no roads except for one linking the Kampung jetty in the south to Berjaya Beach Resort at Teluk Dalam in the north - this road leads through the local village (kampung). The rest of the beaches at Pasir Panjang and Kalong are not connected by roads, though it's possible to trek through the forest from Berjaya at Teluk Dalam to Pasir Panjang, and walk from Pasir Panjang to Kalong beach where Kalong Beach Resort and Mozana Resort are located. It's harder to get to the 2 other smaller beaches further south at Teluk Kalong (where Wisana and the campsites are located) on foot as you need to climb over rocky outcrops or go through the forest.

As for Coral vs Laguna, depends on what you're looking for. Check my Resorts section to see which criteria is more important to you and choose accordingly. Both resorts are among the best on Redang but cater to different guest needs.

Alex.

We visited Redang in May via Berjaya Air and stayed at Laguna Redang. The hotel van drove us to the jetty (5 min away) and we took a 10-15min boat ride to Laguna. We didn't have to pay extra - it was all included.

Our first visit to Redang was spent at Coral Redang, that was back in 2002. Coral is very nice and quiet as they don't have many rooms, thus less crowds. I enjoyed the tranquility and peace of the resort. Also, we had daily visits from the resort's resident squirrels! Food then was good. Buffet style and a good variety.

In May and June this year, we stayed at Laguna Redang. This hotel is good in the sense that it is more family friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean with satisfactory amenities, especially if you have children with you. Food is also served buffet style and was very good!

So depending on what kind of holiday you are planning, each resort has its plus points! If I wanted a romantic and peaceful getaway, I would prefer Coral Redang. If I was visiting with my toddler, I would prefer Laguna.

But either way you will enjoy the sun, sand and sea! Have a glorious time at Redang!
