Subject: KT / Merang hotels recommendation before Redang Island

We are driving to Kuala Terengganu and plan to stay overnight. The next day we will drive to Merang Jetty to head out to Palua Redang. Our planned arrival time in KT is about 6 or 7 PM, just before sundown.

Can anyone please recommend hotels that are clean, quiet and conveniently located in either KT or Merang? Not too pricey, we just want to have a good night sleep, good food, safe and friendly environment.

Any comments or opinion of Grand Continental Hotel???

Thanks in advance for your advise or comments.

My family and I stayed at a small hotel (air-con)opposite the interstate coach station. It is clear and cheap.

Another mid-range hotel just a few blocks away on a street behind. It has a Chinese name and is near to a mosque. The room rate is about RM100.00 per night and has a restaurant.

Regards.

Right above Merang jetty on a hill is a small inn with decent rooms. They also have a small restaurant. I forgot the name. It has been three years since I went there. Try asking MDSA - the Malaysian Diving Society.

Otherwise, you can try Sutra Beach Resort which is quite near the jetty. About 10 minutes away. They have a web presence which you can search on Google.

Thank you Chor Eng, I checked and saw that Sutra Beach Resort rates is a little more than Hotel Grand Continental in Kulau Terrenganu. The Sutra looks pretty interesting, I think we will drop by if there is time to check it out. Thanks for the info.
