Protecting legs and feet -- tangotee, Fri, Aug 30 2002, 19:19:24
Hi Princess,
Please do be alarm with the plankton. It was something new to me and my wife - first time. After being told it was only plankton, we just kindda accepted it with no fear of having rashes. The sensation only really last no more than one or two minutes. Sometimes, only 10 seconds. You see, we're not experienced like some of the other forumites and was worried only if there would be swells the next day. Nothing to worry about once guide Hasan told us it is only plankton. It stung my lower lip but shortly after I forgot about it, continued my snorkelling with gusto. Wife was like, "isn't plankton food for fishes and live off sunlight like green plants", we did not think they would sting.
In 60 minutes of being in the water, I got stung a 3 times and missus only twice. NO jellies, just innoccent plankton thinking we were a whale shark trying to eat it! :)
- can someone comment more about the plankton sting?
As for protection, Alex had very good suggestion: one can buy thin clothing from Isetan or Takashimaya. Day 2, I saw Coral Redang boatman Joli wearing a long sleeve thin-like material, fashionable, and with matching pants. Looks and feel light, so should be easy pack and carry. He go his for 30 RM at K.L.

aiya... do not worry la Princess,
that "plankton" I guess is the "sea mosquito"
local call it.
like its name, it just bite (do not know will
it suck blood...), any way it do not have malaria
virus :)
