Subject: What to bring to Redang?

Hello everybody,
I am going to Redang next Sunday (15/9) and we will be staying there for 5 nights at Coral Redang. I am going with my husband and my 8 months baby girl.
In your opinion, what should I bring to Redang?
(Baby food and diapers are ready);-)
Aditionally we would like to try another restaurant, what hotel or rest. do you recomend me?
All the best for you, Katy

The Calamari at Redang Beach Resort is pretty good - 10 riggit an order. We stayed at Coral for 4 days 3 nights. Our last night, we had dinner at Redang Beach, it's dinning al fresca - not really an indoor type resturant. There were three of us and we had two orders of the calamari to accompany our main entree. The squid is fresh and the belachan (shrimp paste with chilli) goes really well with it.

Just for precaution: Eno fruit salt for indigestion, charchoal pills, seasick pills, anti-histamine pills, anti-histamine lotion, lotsa suntan lotion, sunglasses, band-aid (water-proof or water resistant types), insect repellent (types that are friendly to eco system) if you plan to trek from Pasir Panjang (where Coral Island Resort is) to Berjaya resort (at Teluk Dalam Kercil), flashlight, candles and lighter or waterproof matches, spare batteries for camera, flashlight, googles for watching them fishes, no need for snorkel if swimming near housereef at Tanjong Tengah, surfboots, south of Tanjong Tengah is where baby black tipped shark can be found, but sand is littered with dead broken pieces of coral, the diveboot or surfboots will help you get into the water quickly and less painfully - it took us just about 15 minutes to get into the water - painful experience, small umbrella to shelter baby from sun and rain (sparingly rainfall is normal), aloe vera - the pure type if possible, I usually cut a few and wrap 'em in ziplog bag, yeah, some ziplog bags in different sizes for waterproofing items like camera, batteries, film, etc. Sandles the ones that drys fast, plastic versus canvas or cloth type. Stingose spray or Zine oxide for minor cuts or 'bites' from jellyfish and pastichos for the squirrels (there are signs that say not to feed the animals) but we found the squirrels love the pastichos - unsalted plain ones, and they don't like the sunflower seeds ;)
