Subject: (Urgent) Transportation Help

I need to meet my friend at the Express
Bus Station in Kuala Terengganu for my
coming redang trips.

But the package that I booked will only
drop me at Shah Bandar jetty.

How far is Shah Bandar jetty from the
Express Bus Station in KT ?

What transport is available to get
to the Express Bus Station ?

Thansk in Advance.

KT town centre isn't that big. If I remember correctly, Shahbandar jetty and the Express Bus station are not that far from each other and you should be able to cover the distance on foot quite easily.

There are cabs that you can hop into if you don't feel like walking. Another alternative is to ask the coach bringing you to KT to drop you at the Express bus station instead of Shahbandar jetty. Since KT is quite small, the coach driver would not find it too much out of the way (maybe even pass it on the way to the jetty).

How about to Merang jetty?
I'll get on a coach from Singapore to K.T. but don't know if we can arrange the transportation from K.T. to the jetty.
Please help, thank you.

Yes, you can arrange for transport from K.T. town to Merang Jetty, either by taxi or get one of the local travel agents to have their mini-bus take you there.

If you already booked a package with the resort, double check if there is a "land transfer", that is, from K.T. to jetty. If not, then ask for it, they will charge you a nominal fee. It could be a hassle if you want to arrange transport upon arrival in K.T.

I suggest securing your transport to the jetty prior to your arrival. Some resorts have a single trip during the morning and afternoon, so you don't want to miss it.

Thanks, tango.

The agent charged me at RM30 for the transport from KT to Merang. (oh yes, i'm not sure this charge includes the way back to KT on check-out day!)

Actually, i planned to get on a night coach from KT to KL after the resort package. Does anyone suggest where to go in KT or Merang for my afternoon and dinner?

You can have your afternoon lunch, tea-break or dinner at the hawker stalls at K.T. bus terminal. Next to K.T. bus terminal is a shopping complex. I think "The Store" supermarket is the anchor tenant. Behind this building is the K.T. estuary - a river mouth, there is a really old light house there ... may be a picturesque spot for some folks.

We walked from here towards the Hotel Grand Continental and saw things that were from our childhood days that don't exists anymore where we live. Basically, a Kampung type dwelling exists along the banks of the estuary; an old man mending his fishing nets, kids playing after school, the old cock struting & cock crowing, showing the younger roosters who boss, ducks waddling right in the middle of the lane next to the main road where the bus terminal plys, etcetra. It was nice seeing something different live instead of watching it on the local t.v. documentaries.

If your're into Chinese 'Tze-Char(?)' type food (non-hala), there is a "Restoran Straits" south-west from the bus terminal, about 50 metres across the main road into a two lane road. I don't know the street name. Two, three minute walk from the bus terminal. Good food at reasonable prices.

The Hotel Grand Continental has hala food served buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner, also food is served at the pool side if you're into that sort of ambience and atmosphere.

I hope you will enjoy K.T. before it changes into one of those urban sprawling cities :( I live in one, I should know ;)
