Assuming that woman was born in 1958, (although many of the items she mentioned having never heard of before were invented a long time before she was born) i found these commments interesting too..from http://cyrus.cob.calpoly.edu/humor/1958.html

Common Statements Heard in 1958:

1. "I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a weeks groceries for $20."

3. "If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous." (we're paying $10.00/pack here now)

6. "If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store."

10. "I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying 'damn' in 'Gone With The Wind', it seems every movie has a 'hell' or a 'damn' in it."

13. "Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President of the United States."

14. "Do you suppose television will ever reach our part of the country?" (That was an Illinoisian commenting I think *WG* @ my thetheart)

24. "Why in the world would you want to send your daughter to college? Isn't she going to get married? It would be different if she could be a doctor or a lawyer."

26. "The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on."

29. "If a few idiots want to risk their necks flying across the county that's fine, but nothing will ever replace trains."

There are lots more on that website that you might find interesting..those were just a few of my favourites..
