You are deliberately misunderstanding me, I think.

They do invite us. They spot us and say come here good to see you. We walk in.

I have known girls who just walked backstage like they knew what they were doing and they never were thrown out -- also girls who walked in backwards. They are perfectly nice girls. I honestly don't think a pass matters that much as any indication of status or something.

The only reason they are tough about them now is because of 911 thank you bin laden and Clear Channel.

But at a small theater where people are cool and you're among friends, it's not a big deal.

Admittedly, my days of hanging with a super world famous band were a while ago, but even then I never needed a pass. I didn't go to that many shows anyway as I was mostly hanging out at the studio or dating them, which I preferred.

And at that fame level, there are many many kinds of women backstage, all with passes, and most of them don't get past the artists' bar. There would be a guy who would show up with a stable of five women and they would be got up to the nines and never get in. Sometimes there would be so many requests for passes there wouldn't be any left. So the bottom line is: it depends how you get along with people; if the artist likes you; and what kind of a mood the artist is in.

The pass really doesn't make any difference. Unless you are just there to hit on somebody you don't know. Nothing wrong with that, but in that case you would need a pass and to take your chances. I just don't think getting the sound guy to get you in is a good idea because the guy you fancy will think you are "with" the sound guy, or worse, you did something with another guy to get in to see him. I personally wouldn't go there.

I mean, can't you just meet people anymore? That is really strange. Usually you get a pretty good idea if the guy fancies you or not during the show, and if you talk and hit it off, then fine. I don't understand this just hooking up stuff. I'm probably extremely old-fashioned. For me there has to be chemistry.
