It had been six long months.. six difficult months of working, and overcoming. More therapy than he cared to think about, and he was dry.. and proud of himself at that. He was determined to make things right for Mya now - make himself a presentable boyfriend, and get a better job.. he was going to make things look up for the two of them. A duffle bag in either hand, he set one down to unlock the door - his discharge from the rehab center had been a little earlier than expected, and he planned to surprise her.

She was curled up, fast asleep, on the living room couch, wrapped in a fleesey blanket, a half watched movie playing to itself. her contact with him this past month had been minimal... she couldn't bring herself to tell him... she didn't even believe it herself. The only thought that crossed his mind was that while he was away getting better, she had found someone else to look after her better than he could.. Finally, the thought to say something more than a one word response overcame him, and once it began, he couldn't stop it. "Then how is it, Mya? Tell me how it is, because right now, it's really looking bad on your part. I leave you here for six months, so I can get better.. so I can make things better for us and.. this is what happens? He paused when he saw the way that her body had changed while he had been absent.. a body which he had known so intimately before.. now altered.. and not with his child.. with someone else's.. he supposed that he wasn't actually so angry, mostly jealous.. that the child was not his.
